In order to contribute to the nutrition of inhabitants of the south zone of the austral country, SalmonChile made its new \u201cSalmon Commitment\u201d program public, an initiative where, together with ten producing companies partners, will provide this protein to socially vulnerable persons that are part of foundations, communities and shelters located between the regions of Biob\u00edo and Ays\u00e9n.<\/p>\n
\u201cSalmon Commitment\u201d will benefit more than 1200 persons through 25 social organizations, which will enjoy the nutrition and health benefits of salmon for the care of health, which is recognized by its supply of proteins and Omega-3, becoming a type of food that must be present in nutrition. In total, more than 8 tons per year will be delivered.<\/p>\n
In fact, in accordance with a study conducted by the Nutrition and Food Technology Institute (Inta, Spanish acronym) of Universidad de Chile, consumption of 300 grams of salmon per week may reduce cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, diabetes and cognitive impairment.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very pleased with this initiative, because it is a salmon contribution to social organizations that house people in vulnerability conditions, elders, boys and girls, people with disabilities, in different zones in which we are present\u201d, stated the director of communities at SalmonChile, Felipe D\u00edaz.<\/p>\n
He also added that \u201cWe are thankful for this commitment that involves the entire productive sector present in Biob\u00edo, La Araucan\u00eda, Los Lagos and Ays\u00e9n, who will personally deliver almost 700 kilos monthly to the chosen organizations\u201d.<\/p>\n
Companies participating in this SalmonChile project are Australis, Yadran, Blumar, Marine Farm, Cermaq, Multi X, Camanchaca, Cooke, Salmones Austral and Ventisqueros.<\/p>\n
