This is Aquaculture Engineer Pedro Pablo Cort\u00e9s, who reveals that a remote feeding room is already in operation to feed all of the company’s biomass.<\/em><\/p>\n

Pedro Pablo Cort\u00e9s, an aquaculture engineer with a master’s degree in aquaculture nutrition (undergraduate), is the new Assistant Manager of Feed and Nutrition at Salmones Austral.<\/p>\n

He has 18 years of experience in the aquaculture industry, holding various positions, from plant assistant to Production Manager.<\/p>\n

His last challenge before Salmones Austral was as Production Manager at Baja Aqua Farms, a Mexican company that farms bluefin tuna. He held this role for two years in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.<\/p>\n

And in an interview with Salmonexpert, Cort\u00e9s details his plans for the position.<\/p>\n

What are your main challenges in office?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Generate the maximum biomass at the lowest possible cost, with quality and safety. Always safeguarding the well-being of our staff and our fish.<\/p>\n

What feeding strategies does Southern Salmon use?<\/strong><\/p>\n

We employ a full satiety strategy through the delivery of micro-rations, minimizing losses. As a delivery strategy, micro-rations allow for improved feed delivery, boosting growth and lowering feed conversion.<\/p>\n

In addition, a remote feeding room is already in operation, aiming to feed 100% of the company’s biomass. This aims to further improve control and standardize the feeding process.<\/p>\n

What do you think about eating strategies like intermittent fasting and water for food?<\/strong><\/p>\n

At Salmones Austral, we focus on the use of precision technologies and data-driven strategies, ensuring that any innovation we incorporate has a positive impact on feed conversion and the well-being of our fish.<\/p>\n

Intermittent fasting is used as a tool at certain stages of the culture cycle, associated with harvesting and antiparasitic dips. This does not compromise prolonged fasting, which would affect the well-being of our fish.<\/p>\n

Feeding with water transport is an idea that is being developed and measured. The theory suggests that it should help streamline the energy expenditure of equipment and reduce F&P losses to zero. It undoubtedly creates new challenges, whose cost-effectiveness is being analyzed and evaluated.<\/p>\n

What technologies do you use as a company in your food processes?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the feed delivery process, we use state-of-the-art equipment and software, which allow us to provide efficient feeding.<\/p>\n

We use high-definition monitoring systems for daily feed monitoring and are also developing AI for data analysis and monitoring.<\/p>\n
