SalmonChile announced the launch of a new version of its training program aimed at students of technical high schools in the Los Lagos region. This year, 391 fourth-grade students will receive specialized training in Aquaculture and Industrial Food Processing during the months of July and August.

For four years, in collaboration with NGO Canales and Otec Capital Humano, SalmonChile has developed the program “Strengthening Skills in Professional Technical High Schools.” This initiative has benefited more than 900 students, promoting professional technical education in the southern southern part of the country.

The announcement of the new edition was made last Wednesday, highlighting that 13 high schools will participate in the program, which offers a total of 48 hours of training for both specialties.

Pablo Moraga, territorial representative of SalmonChile in Chiloé, said: “This program seeks to strengthen the learning of students in the area so that they can be part of the great value chain behind national salmon farming in the future. “We are very happy to continue with this initiative that began during the pandemic and that is now essential for the union and the connection with the communities.”

Catalina Salazar, Territorial Coordinator of the Los Lagos Technical Future Network, commented: “This program, which is now in its fifth year, is the result of collaboration between the productive sector, the OTEC Human Capital and the participating educational establishments. “It complies with the mandate of the Technical Future Network of the Ministry of Education, implemented by NGO Canales in the Los Lagos region, highlighting the important and active role of companies in the training of technical-professional students.”

The success of this initiative is due to the support of various companies in the sector, including Multi-X, Salmones Austral, Yadrán, Cermaq, Salmofood, Marine Farm, Ventisqueros, Mowi, Sealand, Salmones de Chile, Salmones Antártica, Akva, Cooke and Australis.
