On October 23, an important meeting was held in the commune of Quellón, where salmon farming workers participated in a workshop focused on promoting gender equality and self-care in the work environment.
Organized by the National Coordinator of Workers of the Salmon Industry and Related Branches, in collaboration with SalmonChile and the partner companies in this territory, (Marine Farm, Yadrán and Salmones Austral), the event brought together around 70 attendees where they addressed key subjects to improve their working conditions and personal well-being.
The workshop, titled “New perspectives that lead us to New Results”, was led by Valentina Orrego – from the consulting company Veomás -, who guided the participants in reflection activities on the importance of mental health and work-life balance. and familiar.
The president of Union No. 2 of the Yadrán Plant and of the National Coordinator of Salmon Industry Workers, Marta Oyarzo, highlighted that “today we are concretizing something that we hope will be replicated over time, that we will advance each year in better things. I think that the work that we have done throughout this time in the union leadership as women and through the Coordinator has been positive, where there are many leaders from Talcahuano to Chiloé, Aysén and Magellan.”
For her part, SalmonChile’s studies and project manager, Marcela Bravo, revealed the importance of collaboration between genders to build a more inclusive work environment, pointing out that “it is super important that men and women can understand how relevant it is to have different looks, that we have the same opportunities within our work areas and that companies can work to generate those opportunities, that we have more women in the industry, in leadership positions, and that together we can work every day for the salmon farming here in the south of Chile”.
“These types of meetings are essential to empower the leaders of the industry and defend the rights of all our colleagues. Our objective is to strengthen the union between workers and promote the development of our skills and leadership,” said the president of the Union of Workers. Salmones Blumar and the National Coordinator of the Salmon and Related Branches Industry, Paola Sanhueza.
